I am reading "The Doctors Heart Cure" after my recent bout of arrythmia and in Chapter 1, Dr Sears talks about Atkins Diet. He saids "Dr Atkins accurately diagnosed the cause of the modern epidemics of obesity, diabetes and heart disease, but he prescribed the wrong solution" Dr Sears goes on to say to refine the Atkins approach and get rid of bad fats, to include animal fats. " The animal husbandry industry is responsible for unnatural living conditions of the animals that adulterate the fat. They prevent animals from getting exercise, and they feed the animals a diet of grains instead if grassesm creating obese diseased animals. Wild grazing animals diet contained only 2 -3 % fat. Today's beef cattle are from 25 to 50 % fat or more."
Any thoughts

I do think there is some validity to the idea that fats are different. However, I don't think you can say across the board that one type of fat is bad for all people and one is good for all people. Look at Eskimos...

Grass-fed beef and buffalo tend to be more lean.
If, as consumers, we continue to show there's a demand for grass-fed beef and buffalo, we'll continue to propagate a healthier industry for meat.
I think any animal that is grain-fed tends to be fattier...humans included!

I tend to agree with both Laura and Jamie.
Everyone has an agenda to work, Dr. Atkins and Dr. Sears included.

Hubby delivered grain to the farms for the cows for a few years and molasses was in alot of it,cotton seed and canola oil also come to mind. I should ask him when he comes home what all was in it LOL.
