Stuck in a stall?
The Curves Diet Plan has something called a Metabolic Tune Up to get your metabolism working again and the weight coming off. I don't see why this wouldn't work with any other diet plans but you can decided for yourself...
The following is taken from the Curves Diet Plan book: Who needs a Metabolic Tune-Up? You do, if you can identify with any of the following problems: 1. Your metabolism is in the dumps due to years of low-calorie dieting. 2. You've reached those frustrating plateaus! 3. You need a respite from your weigh-loss plan. The Metabolic Tune Up is designed to repair years of damage inflicted on your metabolism by dieting. The purpose is NOT to lose weight. Trying to lose wieght with a sluggish metabolism is counterproductive and will only weaken your metabolism further. You need to increase your metabolism, and dieting will further depress it. At the end of the Metabolic Tune-Up, you will not have gained weight or lost weight. YOu will have raised your metabolic rate so that you can diet successfully. The only way to increase your metabolism is to eat more food. So that's exactly what you're going to do. If you have already begun a low carb program, by now you should have kicked the sugar habit, and you're probably eating better than you ever have in your life. Although you are no longer on any meal plan, take these good habits to the Metabolic Tune-Up. Eat normally and healthfully, about 2500 to 3000 calories per day. You're not expected to eat like an angel, but try not to revert to your bad habits. You will stop dieting and begin eating normally and healthfully until your metabolism has recovered. There are three simple steps to the Metabolic Tune-Up. Step 1: Establish Your Low and High Weights Your current weight is your low weight. Record it on this chart http://www.curves.com/weight_loss/pdfs/MetabolicTuneUpChart.pdf Weigh yourself every morning before breakfast. Start eating normally and healthfully 2500 to 3000 calories per day. You may soon notice a weight gain of about three to five pounds, depending on body size. The added weight is mostly water and between one-half and one pound of fat. This your high weight. Keep track of your weight daily on your chart. Your goal is to stay between your low weight and your high weight, and not to gain any more weight. Step 2: Don't Exceed Your High Weight As soon as you hit your high weight, go the Induction (under 25 carbs a day) to burn off the fat. On induction, you will quickly lose the water and the fat, probaly within a day or two. Try not to stay on induction for more than 72 hours. Doing so would stimulate the production of starvation hormones, whih would further drpress your metabolism. When you are back to your low weight, resume normal eating. Step 3: Keep Going Weigh yourself daily. Whenever you reach your high weight, go back to induction to burn off the fat. Do not stay on induction for more than three days. As soon as your each your low weight, start eating normally and healthfully again. Don't assume that if you are taking weight off easily it means that it's time to go back on a weight-loss diet. If you start dieting now, you will quickly plateau and end up right back where you started. How do you know when your metabolism is repaired? When you first start your Metabolic Tune-Up, you will notice that you are dieting more frequently than you are eating normally. As you metabolism becomes accustomed to more food, it will take longer and longer to gain those extra pounds back. You are ready to resume your weight-loss diet when you can eat normally for three to four weeks a time without gaining weight and only need to go on induction for one or two day a month. If you are eating 2500 calories a day and not gaining weight, you can assume that you have raised your metabolisim to 2500 calories. When you have completed the Metabolic Tune-Up, you can go back to your diet plan. |
